Job summary

Workhorse Staffing has an opening for a Toolmaker at a well-established Australian manufacturer in NSW. You will split your time between toolmaking and machinery maintenance within a small engineering team, using AutoCAD drawings to craft press tools and perform repairs.

The role offers diverse duties from precision tooling, surface grinding, CNC tasks, to fault finding and proactive maintenance across production lines, with travel to regional sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Toolmaker.
• Strong press tooling experience.
• CNC machining experience.
• Surface grinding and sharpening experience.
• Good mechanical and fault-finding skills.
• Willingness to get involved with machinery maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Make new press tools and components from scratch.

Job description

Looking for a Toolmaker role with plenty of variety?

We're recruiting an experienced Toolmaker to join a well-established Australian manufacturer, working within a six-person engineering and maintenance team supporting a large manufacturing site.

This is a hands-on role split between press tooling, machining and machinery maintenance - so you won't be stuck doing the same thing every day.

THE ROLE

Around 50-60% of the role is toolmaking, including:

• Making new press tools and components from scratch
• Repairing and modifying existing tooling
• Surface grinding and sharpening
• Turning and honing roll-forming rollers
• Slotting and precision machining
• CNC machining - Fanuc experience is a bonus
• Working from AutoCAD drawings

The other 40-50% is hands-on machinery maintenance, including breakdowns, preventative maintenance and mechanical fault finding across production and roll-forming equipment.

You'll also need some basic hydraulic knowledge.

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for someone with:

• Trade qualification as a Toolmaker

• CNC machining experience
• Good mechanical and fault-finding skills
• A willingness to get involved with machinery maintenance

Roll-forming experience would be great, but isn't essential.
