Job summary

Toll Group is seeking a Grade 2 Instructor and Operational Pilot to lead RPAS training and operational missions from its Brendale site, with collaboration across Toll Uncrewed Systems. You will develop courseware, oversee night operations, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while maintaining strong client relationships.

The role requires 3+ years in RPAS operations, a passion for coaching, and ability to travel as needed. On-site work in Brisbane with some flexible hours is expected.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or CASA Flight Instructor Rating (highly desirable).
• CASA Multi‑Rotor RePL Sub‑25kg (150kg type endorsements highly desirable).
• CASA VTOL Sub‑25kg; able to obtain 150kg type endorsement.
• EVLOS Class 1 & 2.
• BVLOS experience.
• CASA IREX or CASA‑approved RPAS equivalent (highly desirable).
• Demonstrated RPAS flight experience, ideally including controlled or military airspace.
• AROC + Night RPAS operational experience.
• Current advanced First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain within 4 weeks.
• Open driver licence (manual & 4x4 experience desirable).
• Experience in emergency services, defence, or crewed aviation highly regarded

Join a Highly Specialised Emergency Services RPAS Team

The role on offer: Grade 2 Instructor and Operational Pilot - Brendale, QLD.

The Grade 2 Instructor and Operational Pilot will be responsible for the effective management, oversight, deployment and reporting of operations and training both within the Toll Uncrewed Systems (TUS) division and the clients that we service under our ReOC and externally. This position will work across the business not only with the RPAS operations and training teams, but also with our Helicopter and Fixed Wing operations whilst strongly contributing to project work.

This role is primarily based onsite at Brendale in Brisbane, working closely with the Sydney team, along with the flexibility to support emergency call‑outs, night or weekend operations, and travel as required.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a motivated, resilient, and highly skilled RPAS professional who:

• Minimum 3 years' experience in Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS/RPAS) operations, including experience as a commercial RPAS pilot.
• Demonstrated experience delivering aviation, RPAS, or technical training programs in an operational environment.
• Proven experience conducting complex RPAS missions across a range of operational scenarios, including Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS), infrastructure inspection, emergency services, surveillance, mapping, or industrial operations.
• Experience developing, reviewing, and maintaining training curricula, competency frameworks, lesson plans, assessments, and operational procedures.
• Proven ability to mentor, coach, and develop operational personnel to achieve and maintain required competency standards.
• Experience operating within a highly regulated environment and ensuring compliance with aviation regulations, organisational policies, and client requirements.
• Demonstrated experience in operational planning, mission preparation, risk assessment, and post-mission review processes.
