Job summary

Cancer Council NSW in Sydney is seeking a Project Coordinator, Tobacco Cessation to lead tobacco control initiatives and coordinate evidence-based cessation programs across NSW, working with government, health and community partners.

The role requires strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to translate research into policy advice, with a 12-month maximum term and a mix of remote and office work. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in tobacco control and cessation programs.
• Strong research, policy development and advocacy skills.
• Ability to translate complex evidence into policy advice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain expert knowledge of tobacco control and cessation, ensuring activities align with legislation and best practice.
• Lead and contribute to research, policy and communication projects
• Provide high-quality written and verbal advice, briefings and recommendations on tobacco-related developments
• Prepare reports, funding submissions and position statements for stakeholders
• Build partnerships with Cancer Councils, government agencies and researchers
• Support development and evaluation of tobacco control advocacy campaigns
• Coordinate projects and contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement of initiatives
• Display understanding of tobacco control issues and behavior change principles
• Demonstrate ability to translate data into program and policy advice
• Communicate complex issues to both technical and non-technical audiences
