Job summary

Department of Education Victoria – Melton VIC is seeking a Speech Pathologist to help shape a new service for children aged 0-8 with developmental delay or autism and low to moderate support needs.

You will provide evidence-informed assessments, interventions and advice, while supporting families to build confidence and skills for everyday activities, learning and participation in home and community settings.

Qualifications

• Qualified Speech Pathologist with eligibility for registration/membership.
• Experience in child development, early intervention, and family-centred practice.
• Experience with children aged 0-8 years and their families.
• Ability to apply sound clinical reasoning and evidence-informed assessment and intervention.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with capacity to work with families and services.
• Commitment to culturally safe, inclusive and strengths-based practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-informed Speech Pathologist assessment, intervention and advice tailored to each child and family.
• Build parents' and carers' knowledge, skills and confidence to support development in daily activities.
• Deliver targeted, time-limited support to improve participation and inclusion in everyday life.
• Collaborate across home, early learning, and school environments to adapt approaches per child and setting.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team to coordinate responses with allied health and Thriving Kids roles.
• Develop partnerships with early childhood services, schools and health/community services.
