Job summary

MacKillop Family Services is seeking Youth Workers for its Therapeutic Residential Care program in Canberra. You will provide intensive, trauma-informed support to children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs in a highly structured, compassionate environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and young people with complex trauma.
• Ability to implement individualised case plans and safety plans.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing training within a therapeutic model of care.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful therapeutic relationships with young people to support emotion regulation and resilience.
• Support children and young people with complex behaviours using trauma-informed practices.
• Assist in implementing therapeutic care frameworks based on attachment theory and neurodevelopment.
• Respond effectively to crises while maintaining calm and supportive presence.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement individualised therapeutic plans.
