Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 3 Theatre Support Worker to join the Unit 4 theatres at Broadgreen Hospital. The role supports the theatre team in patient care and ensures the smooth running of lists.

You will assist in patient transfer, theatre setup, and peri-operative care, with responsibilities including equipment preparation and handovers. The role requires a commitment to high standards of care and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, assessment, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
• Support the smooth running of theatre lists and escort patients to theatre and post-operative recovery with appropriate handovers.
• Assist in ensuring patient monitoring and seek advice when concerns arise.
• Assist in the theatre set-up each morning in line with Trust policies and procedures.
• Support the scrub practitioner with equipment setup (diathermy machines, suction, endoscopic stacks).
• Act as secondary checker when counting swabs, needles, instruments and sterile fluids, reporting discrepancies.
• Circulate during procedures to maintain sterility and ensure instruments and sundries are available.
• Take responsibility for ordering and maintaining stock levels of specialist items and resources.
• Assist in the smooth running of theatre lists and escort patients from theatre to recovery with proper handover.
• Organise required equipment and medical staff for lists and monitor patients’ condition.
