Job summary

Pacific National in Port Augusta seeks a Terminal Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of a busy freight terminal, overseeing Port Augusta, Whyalla and Cook operations while driving safety and productivity.

You will coordinate resources, rostering, and ensure train movements run safely and on time, reporting to the Superintendent. A strong safety culture and team leadership are essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• Leadership or supervisory role in a safety-critical environment.
• Experience leading, coaching, and motivating teams.
• Background in rail, transport, logistics, or heavy industry.
• Strong safety leadership and fostering a positive safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate day-to-day operations of a busy freight terminal.
• Supervise Port Augusta and Whyalla depots to ensure trains operate safely, efficiently, and on time.
• Manage remote barracks facility at Cook, including utilities and maintenance.
• Inspire a safety-focused culture through leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
• Coordinate resources and rostering to maximise terminal productivity and service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with network access requirements, procedures, and company standards.
• Communicate safety instructions and support continuous improvement across the team.
• Collaborate with Planning Services and Network Control to support train movements.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders and identify opportunities for improvement.

An opportunity has presented itself for a Terminal Supervisor to join our team based in Port Augusta, with responsibility for supporting operations across Port Augusta, Whyalla and Cook.

What You’ll Do

Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of a busy freight terminal while driving safe, efficient, and productive outcomes for our people, customers, and business.

Reporting To The Superintendent, You Will

• Lead, supervise, and coordinate terminal operations at Port Augusta and Whyalla depots to ensure trains operate safely, efficiently, and on time.
• Manage all aspects of Pacific National's remote barracks facility at Cook, including utilities, maintenance requirements, and site upkeep.
• Inspire a safety-focused culture through visible leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
• Coordinate operational resources and workforce activities to maximise terminal productivity and service delivery, including rostering.
• Ensure compliance with network access requirements, operational procedures, and company standards.
• Implement and communicate organisational, divisional, and local safety instructions across the team.
• Conduct safety observations, performance assessments, and ongoing capability development activities.
• Work closely with Integrated Planning Services and Network Control to support effective train movements and operational performance.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring

• Demonstrated experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a safety-critical environment.
• Experience leading, coaching, and motivating teams in a fast-paced operational setting.
• Background in rail, transport, logistics, processing, or a heavy industry is highly regarded.
• Strong commitment to safety leadership and fostering a positive safety culture.
• Proven problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and communicate effectively across all levels of the business.
• Experience developing team capability and driving performance outcomes.
