Job summary

Pacific National is seeking an experienced Forklift / Terminal Operator to join our Perth Freight Terminal in Kewdale, WA. You will support safe yard operations, shunting, and train preparation as part of a forward-rotating 24/7 roster.

Reporting to the Terminal Supervisor, you will move freight with high-risk forklift equipment, perform train inspections and ensure security and housekeeping across the PN network. Apply now.

Qualifications

• Experience operating forklift and terminal equipment.
• Current motor vehicle licence and a high-risk forklift licence.
• CN ticket and Reach Stacker experience is highly regarded.
• Background in logistics, rail or transportation.

Responsibilities

• Operate load-lifting equipment to move freight on/off trains.
• Shunting, train examination and preparation duties.
• Maintain security and housekeeping in yard.
• Provide safety-critical communications for rail services.
• Process freight and documentation in computerised systems.
• Work a 24/7 forward-rotating roster (38 hours per week on average).

An opportunity has presented itself for an experienced Forklift / Terminal Operator to join our team at our Perth Freight Terminal.

What You’ll Do

Play a vital role in the safe and efficient movement of freight, with a strong focus on yard operations, shunting and train preparation.

Reporting to the Terminal Supervisor, you will:

• Operate specialised load lifting equipment to move freight on and off trains and wagons
• Shunting and train examination duties associated with arrival, departure, marshalling and preparation of trains
• Ensure security and general housekeeping is maintained throughout the area of responsibility
• Provide safety-critical communications to incoming and outgoing rail services
• Contribute to the safe and efficient movement of freight across the PN network
• Processing freight and documentation into a computerised system
• Work a 24/7 forward-rotating roster (38 hours per week on average)

What You’ll Bring

• Strong commitment to safety for yourself, your team and the community
• Ability to work rotating shifts including days, nights and weekends
• Good communication skills and a collaborative team mindset
• Current motor vehicle licence
• Current high-risk forklift licence
• CN ticket and Reach Stacker experience (highly regarded)
• Experience in ground shunt, train inspection or trackside safety (highly regarded)
• Background in logistics, transport or rail (highly regarded)
• Willingness to learn and obtain new competencies
