Job summary

coNXection in NSW is seeking a Team Leader to oversee the temporary works design team. You will manage a team of six engineers and designers, coordinate onshore and offshore members, and stay hands-on with complex design, analysis and sign-off for major projects.

You will drive technical excellence, mentoring staff, ensure designs meet Australian Standards, and act as the senior engineering contact for clients. Hybrid work arrangement offered with four days in office and one from home.

Qualifications

• CPEng or near-qualification with civil/structural degree
• Proven experience designing and certifying temporary works
• Revit and AutoCAD 3D experience advantageous
• Experience leading or mentoring technical teams
• Process-driven delivery approach

Responsibilities

• Run the Sydney temporary works design team, setting priorities and workload
• Act as final technical check and certifying engineer on temporary works designs
• Tackle complex design challenges from analysis to final solution
• Coach and develop the team, raise technical standards
• Senior engineering contact for clients and internal teams
• Ensure designs and sign-offs align with Australian Standards and QA processes

A national temporary works engineering business is looking for a Team Leader to oversee its NSW engineering team. The team designs and certifies temporary works for major energy, resources, construction and civil infrastructure projects.

You’ll lead a team of 6 engineers and designers, working across onshore and offshore team members, while staying hands-on with complex design, analysis and sign-off. The work regularly involves bespoke solutions, supporting clients who are delivering some of Australia’s most complex projects.

Key responsibilities of the Team Leader

• Run the Sydney temporary works design team, setting priorities and managing workload across local and offshore engineers and designers
• Act as the final technical check and certifying engineer on temporary works designs before they go to site - this role is focused on industrial access and scaffolding.
• Take on the more complex design challenges yourself, from analysis and modelling through to the final engineered solution
• Coach and develop the team, raising technical standards and building the next generation of designers
• Be the senior engineering point of contact for clients and internal teams, turning project needs into safe, build-able solutions
• Keep designs, documentation and sign-off consistent with Australian Standards and the business's established quality processes

What you’ll bring as the Team Leader

• CPEng, or within a few months of achieving it, with a civil or structural degree
• Proven experience designing and certifying temporary works, with scaffold design experience highly regarded
• Revit and AutoCAD 3D experience would be a strong advantage
• Experience leading or mentoring technical teams
• A practical, process-driven approach to delivery
