Job summary

Terra Verde is delivering major tunnelling infrastructure in Melbourne. We seek an experienced Methods and Temporary Works Engineer to develop and coordinate temporary works solutions across TBM and civil works, ensuring constructability and safe delivery on site.

You will work with design, planning, HSEQ and logistics teams, reviewing submissions, and maintaining the Temporary Works Register. Melbourne-based, on-site role with a dynamic project team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of civil/structural experience on tunnelling projects preferred.
• Experience supporting temporary works, design and construction methodologies.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit or BIM tools and related drawing/modeling tasks.
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary coordination skills.

Terra Verde is a joint venture between Webuild, GS Engineering & Construction (E&C) Australia, and Bouygues Construction Australia.

The joint venture combines experienced local personnel with global resources and expertise.

Terra Verde is delivering nearly 10 kilometres of parallel tunnels between Glen Waverley and Box Hill, including 39 cross passages and two station boxes at Glen Waverley and Burwood in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, as part of the Suburban Rail Loop Project.

This is the largest infrastructure project in Victoria’s history, shaping Melbourne and Victoria for future generations.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Methods and Temporary Works Engineer to join our Technical team on Terra Verde.

Reporting to the Methods and Temporary Works Manager, this role will support the safe and efficient development and delivery of temporary works and construction methodologies across major tunnelling and civil infrastructure works.

Working closely with construction, design, planning, HSEQ and logistics teams, you will develop and coordinate practical temporary works solutions, support construction methodology development and provide technical engineering support throughout delivery.

The role will provide exposure to complex temporary works and construction activities including tunnelling and TBM works, cross passages, excavation support, formwork, access and crane platforms, construction staging and site logistics.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review construction method statements, staging sequences and temporary works design briefs.
• Support the development and implementation of temporary works solutions including falsework, formwork, shoring, piling, excavation retention, access platforms and crane platforms.
• Assist with tunnelling and TBM-related construction methodologies, including assembly and disassembly planning, staging and site logistics.
• Prepare and coordinate temporary works design briefs and review designs and technical submissions prepared by external consultants.
• Undertake constructability reviews and ensure temporary works solutions are appropriately integrated with construction requirements, sequencing and project schedules.
• Coordinate with construction, design, planning, HSEQ and logistics teams to support safe and efficient project delivery.
• Provide technical engineering support during temporary works installation and construction activities, including site inspections and resolution of technical issues.
• Maintain temporary works documentation and the Temporary Works Register, ensuring design changes and new requirements are appropriately risk assessed and documented.
• Support compliance with applicable engineering standards, project requirements, safety-in-design principles and regulatory obligations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, technical knowledge sharing and the development of temporary works capability across the project.
• These accountabilities align with the approved PD, including temporary works solutions, TBM methodology, design briefs, constructability reviews, multidisciplinary coordination and maintenance of the Temporary Works Register.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years' relevant civil or structural engineering experience, ideally gained on a major tunnelling infrastructure project.
• Demonstrated experience supporting temporary works, structural design and/or construction methodology development.
• Practical experience with steel and concrete structures, foundations, piling, formwork, excavation support or other temporary works applications.
• Experience preparing, reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings, calculations, design documentation and construction methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience providing engineering support during construction, including site inspections, constructability reviews and resolution of technical issues.
• Sound understanding of engineering design principles, construction methodologies, safety in design and risk management.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering and drafting software such as AutoCAD, Revit and/or BIM applications.
• Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary construction and engineering teams.
• Experience with tunnelling methods, TBM works, construction staging and/or site logistics will be highly regarded.
