Job summary

Green Tech Services Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Cabler to join our Victoria-based operations on a full-time basis. You will work on commercial, industrial and residential projects delivering fibre optic, copper and structured cabling installations, testing and commissioning to Australian Standards.

The role requires field-based work, ability to travel between sites, climb and work at heights, and a commitment to safety, quality and timely project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III or IV in Telecommunications or related discipline.
  • At least 1 year post-qualification experience installing, commissioning and maintaining fibre optic, copper and structured cabling.
  • Experience with fibre optic splicing, cable jointing, testing and fault diagnosis.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret telecommunications drawings, network schematics, cable schedules and specs for installation.
  • Install, haul, terminate, test and commission fibre optic, copper and structured cabling systems.
  • Perform fibre optic splicing, cable jointing and enclosure installation.
  • Install and test CPE, ONT, routers and switches per client specs.
  • Conduct acceptance testing, commissioning using OTDRs and meters.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults on telecom systems.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Prepare testing records and as-built documentation.
  • Coordinate with project managers and clients to ensure delivery.
  • Work safely under WHS, SWMS and standards.

We deliver high-quality telecommunications solutions across commercial, industrial and residential projects while maintaining strong commitments to safety, quality and compliance with Australian Standards. Due to continued growth in telecommunications infrastructure projects, increasing client demand and an expanding pipeline of fibre optic and structured cabling works across Victoria, we are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Cabler to join our operations team on a full-time basis.

About the Role

The successful applicant will work on commercial, industrial and residential telecommunications infrastructure projects involving fibre optic, copper and structured cabling installations, network upgrades, fault rectification and maintenance across Victoria. The role requires the ability to perform field-based work, including working at heights, in confined spaces and travelling between project sites. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering compliant telecommunications installations, testing and commissioning activities while maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and technical quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret telecommunications drawings, network schematics, cable schedules and technical specifications to determine installation methods and cable routing.
  • Install, haul, terminate, test and commission fibre optic, copper and structured cabling systems in accordance with Australian Standards.
  • Perform fibre optic splicing, cable jointing, termination and enclosure installation while maintaining network performance and signal integrity.
  • Install, configure, test and commission Customer Premises Equipment (CPE), Optical Network Terminals (ONT), routers, switches and associated telecommunications equipment, ensuring operational performance and compliance with client specifications.
  • Conduct acceptance testing, certification and commissioning using OTDRs, Fluke Cable Analysers, Optical Power Meters and other industry-standard testing equipment.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults affecting fibre optic, copper and structured cabling systems.
  • Carry out preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Prepare accurate testing records, commissioning reports, splice diagrams and as-built documentation.
  • Coordinate telecommunications installation activities with project managers, builders, contractors and clients, provide technical advice during installations and resolve technical issues to support successful project delivery.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety legislation, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Australian Standards and company procedures.
About You

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Certificate III or IV in Telecommunications, Data Communications, Electrical, Communications Technology or a related discipline (or equivalent).
  • At least one (1) year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) post-qualification experience installing, commissioning and maintaining fibre optic, copper and structured telecommunications cabling systems.
  • Experience with fibre optic splicing, cable jointing, testing and fault diagnosis.
  • Ability to interpret telecommunications drawings, network schematics and technical documentation.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian telecommunications installation standards and Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
  • Current White Card.
  • Current Australian Driver Licence.
  • Current Australian Open Cabling Registration with Fibre Endorsement, or the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Working at Heights, Confined Spaces, Elevated Work Platform (EWP) and First Aid certifications, or the ability to perform these duties where appropriately trained and certified, will be advantageous.
