Job summary

Neumann Contractors in Queensland is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join our Engineering team. You will create, manage and maintain technical documentation across marine, dredging and engineered equipment operations.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will produce Operation & Maintenance Manuals, On Board Safety Manuals, Vessel Operating Procedures, OEM manuals and related engineering documents that are accurate, compliant and easy to understand.

Qualifications

• Three or more years' experience in technical writing within engineering, manufacturing, marine or heavy industry.
• Experience preparing technical manuals, operating procedures or compliance documentation.
• Excellent written communication, editing and proofreading skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical information.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and PDF editing.
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor and Vault or similar CAD/document management systems is highly regarded.
• Knowledge of document control practices and version management.
• Experience with AMSA or other regulatory documentation requirements is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain Operation & Maintenance Manuals (OMMs) for Neumann equipment.
• Develop and maintain On Board Safety Manuals (OBSMs) and Vessel Operating Procedures (VOPs) for marine and dredging operations.
• Compile OEM manuals and supporting technical documentation.
• Produce project documentation including technical submissions, inspection records, data sheets and engineering deliverables.
• Work with engineers and operational teams to gather and verify technical information.
• Extract and incorporate engineering drawings, illustrations and 3D model views into technical documentation.
• Maintain document control through effective version management and document numbering.
• Ensure documentation complies with relevant regulatory requirements, client specifications and company standards.
• Review and proofread technical documents to ensure consistency, accuracy and presentation quality.
• Support tender submissions, product literature and technical information required by Sales and Marketing.
• Identify opportunities to improve documentation systems, templates and processes.
