Job summary

MACA is seeking a permanent, full-time Technical Trainer Assessor to join the Mobile Equipment team on an 8:6 roster, roaming across multiple sites and based from Welshpool. You will lead compliance training and competency assessments for heavy mobile equipment, while upholding HSEQ standards and driving workforce development.

Your experience includes open pit mining, heavy equipment operation, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in open pit production mining.
• Experience operating Dump Trucks, Dozers, Graders, and Excavators.
• Current WA driver’s licence.
• High Risk Work Licence (preferred).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and assess compliance training for heavy mobile equipment across MACA sites.
• Uphold HSEQ standards and ensure procedural compliance.
• Coordinate training with Project Managers and Supervisors.
• Maintain accurate training records and reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement in training delivery.
• Maintain minimum 75% training/assessing activity and stay fit for duty.

The Role & Project

We have an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Technical Trainer Assessor to join our Mobile Equipment team on an 8:6 roster (roaming), working across multiple sites while being headquartered out of our Welshpool office.

Reporting to the Technical Trainer Superintendent, you will play a key role in compliance training and skills development for heavy mobile equipment across various MACA mining sites.

Key result areas include:

• Deliver and manage compliance training and competency assessments for heavy mobile equipment across MACA mining sites.
• Uphold HSEQ standards by working safely, reporting hazards/incidents, and ensuring full compliance with procedures and regulations.
• Support workforce development by liaising with Project Managers and Supervisors and coordinating training.
• Maintain accurate training records, complete required documentation, and provide regular activity reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement through high-quality training delivery, process improvements, and active contribution to team initiatives.
• Maintain a high level of training activity (minimum 75% in training/assessing) while remaining fit for duty and performing work to required standards.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an open pit production mining environment.
• Experience operating a range of heavy mobile equipment, including:
  • Dump Trucks
  • Dozers
  • Graders
  • Excavators
• Strong self-motivation with the ability to work independently.
• Solid computer skills, including proficiency in MS Excel.
• Current WA driver’s licence.
• High Risk Work Licence (preferred).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
