Covalent Lithium Pty Ltd in Western Australia’s Kwinana Refinery is seeking a Technical Trainer to develop, deliver and continuously improve fixed plant training programs for Process and Despatch Operators. You will partner with Operations and Technical teams to coach staff, assess competency and maintain accurate records, ensuring safe operation and readiness across the site.

This permanent role offers Monday to Friday hours, competitive remuneration, and opportunities to influence training

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in fixed plant processing operations, ideally within lithium refining.
• Strong knowledge of fixed plant processes, equipment, control systems, and safe operating practices.
• Experience in commissioning and operational readiness activities.
• Experience with fixed plant systems such as pyrometallurgical processing, calcination, rotary kilns, pneumatic conveying, filtration, water treatment, crystallisation.
• Exposure to DCS, BMS, and Type B gas appliances is desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to translate technical knowledge into practical training and capability development.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and deliver fixed plant training programs, learning resources, competency assessments, and VOC tools.
• Conduct training, coaching, mentoring, and competency assessments to ensure operators can safely operate fixed plant equipment.
• Identify training needs and develop solutions aligned with plant standards and business objectives.
• Deliver onboarding and operational readiness training focused on fixed plant systems and operating requirements.
• Maintain accurate training, assessment, and competency records per requirements.
• Collaborate with Operations, Technical, Supervisors, and L&D teams to reflect current plant practices.
• Review, update, and improve training materials based on plant changes, audits and regulatory requirements.
• Support competency reviews, audits, and incident investigations to identify gaps and drive improvements.

The Role

As Technical Trainer, you will develop, deliver, and continuously improve fixed plant training programs at our Kwinana Refinery.

Working closely with Operations and Technical teams, you'll provide training, coaching, and competency assessments that ensure employees can safely and effectively operate refinery equipment and systems.

You’ll play a key role in building workforce capability, supporting operational readiness, and maintaining competency standards across the site.

This is a permanent full-time position based at our Kwinana Refinery, working Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and deliver fixed plant training programs, learning resources, competency assessments, and VOC tools for Process and Despatch Operators.
• Conduct training, coaching, mentoring, and competency assessments to ensure operators can safely and effectively operate fixed plant equipment and systems.
• Identify training needs and develop solutions aligned with operational requirements, plant standards, and business objectives.
• Deliver onboarding and operational readiness training focused on fixed plant systems, processes, equipment, and operating requirements.
• Maintain accurate training, assessment, and competency records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Operations, Technical, Supervisors, and Learning & Organisational Development teams to ensure training reflects current plant requirements and operating practices.
• Review, update, and continuously improve training materials and programs based on plant changes, operational feedback, incidents, audits, and regulatory requirements.
• Support competency reviews, training audits, and incident investigations to identify gaps, ensure compliance, and implement training improvements.

Role Requirements

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable).
• Certificate III or IV in Process Plant Technologies (desirable).
• Minimum 5 years' experience in fixed plant processing operations, ideally within lithium refining, mineral processing, or similar heavy industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of fixed plant processes, equipment, control systems, and safe operating practices within a refinery or processing environment.
• Experience in commissioning, operational readiness activities, major shutdowns, or continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience with fixed plant systems such as pyrometallurgical processing, calcination, rotary kilns, pneumatic conveying, filtration, water treatment, crystallisation, and related process operations.
• Exposure to Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Burner Management Systems (BMS), and Type B gas appliances is desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to translate technical knowledge into practical training, coaching, competency assessment, and capability development programs.
• Experience developing or reviewing operating procedures, training materials, competency assessments, and technical documentation.
