Job summary

Thiess is launching a structured development program in Technical Services for the Eva Copper Mine in North-West Queensland. The role starts January 2027 and welcomes recent school leavers with Year 12, even without mining experience.

You will work with experienced Engineers, Surveyors, Geologists and Geotechnical personnel, gaining hands-on experience across disciplines and developing practical skills on site.

About the Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Previous mining experience is not required. Experience gained through school projects, work experience placements, community activities or technical hobbies will be highly regarded.

The opportunity

With no prior mining experience required, you might be about to finish Year 12, a recent school leaver or a mine worker looking to move into a technical role. This is a unique opportunity to kick-start your mining career within our Technical Services team through a structured development program.

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you'll work alongside experienced professionals and gain hands‑on experience across a range of disciplines, including mining engineering, survey, drill and blast, geology and geotechnical functions.

Based on site on an 8-days on, 6‑days off roster, this role offers practical industry experience, ongoing mentorship, and a clear pathway for long-term career growth in mining.
