WorkSafe Victoria is seeking a Technical Recoveries Advisor based in Wadawurrung/Geelong with a hybrid work pattern (3 days in the office) and occasional travel to Melbourne and court locations. The Dispute Management Division plays a critical role in supporting WorkSafe's purpose of reducing workplace harm and improving outcomes for injured workers. The division is responsible for the management of common law claims and related litigation, recovery of compensation from liable third parties, oversight of claim-related litigation, and management of WorkSafe's legal panel firms and associated legal service providers. As the Technical Recoveries Advisor, you'll play a key role in protecting the Victorian workers' compensation scheme by identifying, assessing and pursuing recoveries of paid compensation from negligent third parties. Working within a specialist litigation and recoveries environment, you'll apply your legal expertise and commercial judgement to manage complex matters, influence strategic outcomes and support the effective recovery of compensation on behalf of WorkSafe. Aligned with our value of Accountable, you'll make informed decisions, manage complex stakeholder relationships and deliver outcomes that support the sustainability of Victoria's workers compensation scheme.
You are an experienced legal, litigation or recoveries professional who enjoys working on complex matters and delivering strategic outcomes. You bring strong technical expertise, sound judgement and the ability to influence stakeholders in a challenging and fast-paced environment. You are highly analytical, commercially minded and confident balancing legal, operational and reputational considerations when making decisions. Most importantly, you're motivated by meaningful work and the opportunity to contribute to positive outcomes for Victorian workers.
Additionally, you will possess the following skills and experience:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Law or a related discipline, and/or significant experience working in a legal, litigation, recoveries, insurance or professional services environment.
