CitiPower and Powercor seeks an experienced Technical Officer to join Geospatial Services, GIS, based at our Market Street CBD head office. The role supports overhead and underground distribution design projects with accurate drawings and asset information.

The ideal candidate will have a background in the electrical industry, familiarity with Engineering Technical Standards and VESI Design, and a continuous improvement mindset to drive process changes and efficiency.

Qualificações

• Advanced GIS and drafting knowledge for utility networks.
• Experience with CAD and drawing management systems in a utilities context.
• Familiarity with Engineering Technical Standards and asset data processes.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare, update and maintain accurate as-built drawings and project documentation.
• Manage drawing and document control systems with QA processes.
• Coordinate GIS data updates across databases to meet timeframes.
• Undertake minor surveying activities per technical manuals and safety guidelines.
• Provide project management support including time, cost and quality monitoring.
• Proactively pursue process improvements and innovative solutions.

About the Role:

We currently have a new permanent opportunity for an experienced Technical Officer to join our Geospatial Services, GIS team, based at our Market Street CBD head office in a full time and permanent opportunity.

Reporting to the Team Lead GIS & Closeout, this position is responsible for the provision of GIS, drafting and survey services to support overhead and underground distribution design projects. The role ensures accurate as-built documentation, effective drawing management and compliance with relevant standards, while providing timely and accurate GIS and asset information to internal and external Powercor Network Services clients.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a background in the electrical industry and familiar working with distributors and their network assets. In addition, you will have experience working with Engineering Technical Standards, VESI Design and Australian Standards. Finally, you will have a strong continuous improvement mindset, with experience in identifying and implementing process improvements initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, update and maintain accurate as-built drawings, system records and project documentation in line with technical standards and stakeholder requirements.
• Manage drawing and document control systems, including reporting, quality assurance, and the development of drafting standards, templates and best practices.
• Co-ordinate the input and update of data within GIS and associated databases in accordance with customer requirements and agreed timeframes
• Undertake minor surveying activities to agreed timeframes and in accordance with the relevant technical manuals, OH&S Act, Safety in Design guidelines and customer requirements
• Provide project management support including monitor, review and reconcile time, costs and quality of distribution network projects
• Pro-actively pursue innovation in relation to products, services, processes, practices, and procedures

To succeed in this role you will have:

• Advanced Diploma in ESI Power Systems, Certificate of Technology, and/or degree or diploma in Geospatial Systems
• Knowledge of electricity distribution network assets
• Detailed knowledge of GIS systems, standards, practices, tools, and processes
• Detailed knowledge of CAD Systems and related systems such as Drawing Management Systems
• Detailed knowledge around current Drafting standards, practices, tools, and processes in the utilities or power industry
• Demonstrated experience in a similar type of role, particularly around implementation of GIS systems and user acceptance testing
