CitiPower and Powercor in Melbourne is seeking a Technical Drafting Officer to join our Design and Spatial team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role can be based in any Powercor depot in Melbourne or Regional Victoria, and you will perform essential 2D and 3D drafting and modelling, design support, and GIS updates to keep our network operating efficiently.

This role offers end-to-end drafting services, working with internal and external clients to ensure outputs meet standards, regulations

Qualifications

• Certificate or tertiary qualification in Engineering/Building Drafting, GIS/Mapping, or equivalent.
• Strong experience with Autodesk products and related drawing/document management systems.
• Fundamental knowledge of electricity distribution network assets.

Responsabilités

• Deliver drafting services for new and existing designs using Autodesk products and GIS systems.
• Prepare design plans and maintain system records per standards and customer requirements.
• Provide technical and design support for overhead, underground, and substation projects.
• Manage project-related documents within the document management system.

• Undertake minor survey activities and ensure OH&S compliance.

About the role

This is an exciting permanent opportunity to join our Design and Spatial team as a Technical Drafting Officer in a full-time and permanent role. This role can be based in any Powercor depot in Melbourne or Regional Victoria.

The role will contribute to a wide range of projects including substations, distribution networks, sub-transmission systems, and fibre design. This role will see you working on essential 2D and 3D drafting and modelling, design support, and GIS updates that keep our network operating efficiently and effectively.

In addition, this role will provide end-to-end drafting services, technical support, and system updates for internal and external clients. Work will range from preparing detailed plans and records to supporting design and survey activities, ensuring all outputs meet standards, regulations, and customer needs.

This position is covered by the Powercor & CitiPower & ASU, PA UWU Enterprise Agreement. The salary range for this role is Pay Point 14 ($120,303) – Pay Point 18 ($141,711) + 13% of super + allowances.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver a full range of drafting services for new and existing designs using Autodesk products and GIS systems.
• Prepare simple and complex design plans and maintain system records in line with standards and customer requirements.
• Engage in innovative practices in relation to products, services, processes, practices, and procedures
• Maintain and update the Geographical Information System (GIS) to required timeframes.
• Provide technical and design support for overhead, underground, and substation projects.
• Undertake minor survey activities as required, ensuring compliance with technical manuals, OH&S Act, and Safety in Design guidelines.
• Manage project-related documents within the document management system.
• Support innovation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, systems, and practices.

What you’ll need from day one

• Certificate or tertiary qualification in Engineering/Building Drafting, GIS/Mapping, or equivalent.
• Strong experience with Autodesk products and related drawing/document management systems.
• Fundamental knowledge of electricity distribution network assets.
• Attention to detail and ability to work within technical and safety guidelines.
• A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
