Role: Technical Lead - Azure Cloud Services
Location: Melbourne
Contract Duration: 6 Months with high possible extensions
Experience: 7+ Years

Job description:

  • Provide 24x7 operational support for Azure services, including incident resolution and problem management (on-call rostered support).
  • Manage and optimize Azure services including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Container Apps, Azure SQL, and Azure Virtual Desktop.
  • Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, and Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
  • Champion GitOps and DevOps practices using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitor and manage cloud resources using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and Microsoft Sentinel.
  • Ensure cloud systems meet performance, availability, and security SLAs, including regular DR testing, patching, and backup validation.
  • Drive cost optimization through proactive analysis using Azure Cost Management and Advisor.
  • Maintain compliance with Microsoft Cloud Security Benchmark (MCSB) and other regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, APRA CPS 234).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support hybrid cloud and multi-cloud strategies.

Skills Required:

  • Proven experience in Azure cloud operations within enterprise environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Terraform, Bicep, and IaC principles.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, and CI/CD automation.
  • Deep understanding of Azure AD, Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, Managed Identities, and Conditional Access.
  • Hands-on experience with AKS, Azure Container Apps, and Helm charts.
  • Familiarity with Azure Policy, Blueprints, and Security Center.
  • Knowledge of networking in Azure, including Private Endpoints, NSGs, Firewalls, and Virtual WAN.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools: Azure Monitor, Grafana, Prometheus.
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
