Job description

Technical Director | Electrical (Melbourne)

Inspire a better world through influence and design.

Ready to bring your electrical engineering expertise to a role where technical authority and commercial accountability sit together?

We are growing our Building Services team and looking for an Electrical engineer to provide strong technical leadership for our Electrical team in Melbourne. This is a senior leadership position combining complex technical expertise with mentoring and nurturing a team.

You could be a Senior Associate or Associate Director who is ready to make this step, as well as someone already operating at Technical Director level who is looking for an environment where technical excellence is genuinely valued alongside commercial performance.

Please note: Applicants must reside in Australia and hold full Australian working rights, as this role does not offer visa sponsorship.

Who We Are

Founded in 2011 in Australia, ADP Consulting is a trusted, sustainability-led engineering consultancy with an international footprint that is renowned for finding the best technical and sustainable solutions to the most complex projects, wherever these may be.

ADP Consulting is committed to inspiring a better world through influence and design, collaborating with industry leaders who are equally as passionate about innovation, design excellence and, importantly, our impact on the planet.

ADP Consulting has now joined forces with Ayesa, one of the world's largest technology and engineering companies, in a move that facilitates new pathways and accelerates our growth.

What is your role?
  • You will hold two responsibilities that sit together in this role: technical authority across the delivery of complex Electrical projects and be the technical point of contact for the overall Electrical Team. You will set the standard for electrical engineering at ADP in Melbourne, and you will be expected to understand the commercial health of what you are running.
  • Serve as the senior technical authority for complex electrical building services in Melbourne, setting the standard for design quality, engineering rigour and technical consistency across projects.
  • Lead the technical delivery and peer review of complex, high-value electrical projects across all sectors, from concept through to construction.
  • Provide technical direction across power systems, power distribution, substations, protection, emergency power, lighting and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Monitor project financials, identify risks early and take action to protect both quality and commercial outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted senior point of contact across a diverse project portfolio.
  • Develop and mentor engineers across the Melbourne team, lifting technical standards and contributing to a culture of engineering excellence.
  • Shape ADP's electrical design methodologies, standards and approach to technical quality across the practice.
Why Electrical Directors Are Choosing ADP Right Now
  • A role where technical depth is genuinely valued, not gradually replaced by management tasks.
  • A diverse project portfolio spanning all sectors, with complexity and variety.
  • A national multidisciplinary firm with the backing of Ayesa, one of the world's largest engineering and technology groups, opening access to international capability and markets.
About You
  • You are a lead electrical engineer who is known for the quality of your complex technical work and trusted by clients and teams alike.
  • You have significant consulting engineering experience in electrical building services, with a track record of leading the technical delivery of complex, high-value projects.
  • You have strong technical depth across power systems, power distribution, protection, substations, emergency power and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • You are comfortable with project financials and have experience managing fee budgets, project profitability and resource allocation.
  • You hold strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC requirements and relevant regulatory frameworks, and you apply them with practical engineering judgement.
  • You communicate clearly and credibly with clients, contractors and senior stakeholders, and you are trusted to represent ADP at the highest level.
  • You hold a degree in Electrical Engineering and Chartered status (or eligibility for Chartership) with Engineers Australia.
  • You hold, or are eligible for, Registered Professional Engineer status in Victoria under the National Engineering Register (NER).
  • Experience with laboratory or mission critical facilities is highly regarded.
