Job summary

Power and Water Corporation is a Northern Territory Government (NTG) owned utility that operates across a geographic area of 1.3 million square kilometres and within a range of diverse environmental conditions, ranging from the arid dry of the central desert to the tropical monsoon of the top end. The corporation generates, transmits and distributes electricity, supplies water and wastewater treatment services across the Northern Territory (NT) for the benefit of residents, including remote and isolated Aboriginal communities and outstations.

As a Technical Coordinator (Mechanical), you will provide technical leadership and coordination for the maintenance, reliability and performance of power generation equipment including both diesel and gas-fired units, buildings and fuel storage assets. Working closely with operations personnel, contractors and key stakeholders, you will coordinate maintenance activities, investigate equipment issues, manage asset improvement initiatives, and support the delivery of capital and sustaining works projects to ensure the ongoing reliability and availability of generation assets.

This is a diverse and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You may be coordinating major capital installations and asset upgrades, planning and overseeing engine rebuilds and top-end overhauls, analysing performance and condition monitoring data, investigating equipment failures, or working collaboratively with operational teams to optimise plant performance, reliability and lifecycle outcomes. Through your technical expertise and leadership, you will play a key role in maintaining the integrity and performance of generation infrastructure across the region.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in mechanical maintenance and power generation, with exposure to project delivery, fabrication works, and heavy industrial environments. Most importantly, you will possess a strong commitment to safety, technical problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

You will be confident managing competing priorities, coordinating contractors and stakeholders, and working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical planning, maintenance, and asset reliability solutions in a dynamic operational environment. Your ability to identify opportunities for improvement, effectively manage risks, and support the successful delivery of maintenance and capital works programs will be key to your success in this role.
