Job summary

Aurec seeks a Technical Business Analyst to drive a critical system integration and data migration in the transport and real-time passenger information sector. You will map complex data flows, reverse-engineer legacy logic, configure EMS platforms, and define API requirements to ensure accurate processing across channels.

You will liaise with external vendors and internal teams, oversee testing and cutover planning, and produce comprehensive documentation for handover to business-as-usual

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking a Technical Business Analyst to drive a critical system integration and data migration initiative within the transport and real-time passenger information sector. You will be responsible for mapping complex data flows, reverse-engineering legacy system behaviours, configuring event management platforms, and defining stringent API requirements. This role acts as the primary conduit between external vendors, internal technical teams, and business stakeholders to ensure high-volume, event-driven data is accurately processed and distributed across customer channels and open data networks.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Locate, review and consolidate existing system documentation while reverse-engineering undocumented legacy logic directly from source code, logs, and API specifications.

Map complex end-to-end data pipelines, detailing source origins, transformation rules, and event delivery to downstream customer channels and open data networks.

Design, configure, and implement scalable message templates within enterprise event platforms to process both automated data feeds and manual inputs.

Author rigorous business, functional, and non-functional requirements for API integrations and data ingestion, supported by precise data mapping and interface specifications.

Facilitate technical discovery workshops with internal engineering teams, external transport operators and business stakeholders to baseline requirements and resolve dependencies.

Evaluate third-party vendor solution designs, manage technical clarifications, track architectural decisions, and ensure deliverables align strictly with approved scope.

Drive testing phases by defining test scenarios, acceptance criteria, and regression scopes, alongside actively supporting end-to-end validation and defect triage.

Produce comprehensive handover artefacts, including traceability matrices, cutover strategies, and operational support guides for a seamless transition to business-as-usual operations.

MORE ABOUT YOU

Demonstrated experience operating as a Technical Business Analyst on complex system integration or legacy migration projects.

Proven capability to interrogate code, system logs, and API documentation to accurately determine system behaviour and undocumented logic.

Extensive experience mapping enterprise technology stacks, event-driven data flows, and technical interfaces.

Strong proficiency in writing technical requirements specifically for APIs and real-time data streaming.

Hands-on experience configuring content or message templates within enterprise platforms.

Sound knowledge of requirements traceability methodologies and formal test planning.

Track record of successfully managing relationships with external technical vendors and coordinating multiple internal engineering teams.

Advanced proficiency with the Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence) and Draw.io for technical diagramming.

Previous exposure to the public transport sector or real-time passenger information systems is highly desirable.

Practical experience or familiarity with the Mentz Event Management System (EMS) will be highly regarded.
