Public Sector People are partnering with a large State government Department in BRISBANE to recruit an experienced Technical Business Analyst for an initial 6-month temp contract position + potential extension.

The Technical Business Analyst will drive requirements for the Asset Management System (AMS), translating business and operational needs into clear business, functional, data, integration, and non-functional requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, document and agree on business and system requirements for AMS.
  • Review processes and design future ways of working; create process maps and acceptance criteria.
  • Define data flows and integration requirements for AMS and CDSS.
  • Document data requirements, rules, definitions and migration needs for legacy data sources.
  • Identify gaps, conflicts, risks and ensure traceability across design, testing and implementation.
  • Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to gather requirements and support delivery.

Public Sector Peopleare partnering with a large State government Department in BRISBANE to recruit an experienced Technical Business Analyst for an initial 6-month temp contract position + potential extension.

The Technical Business Analyst will drive requirements for the AMS project, translating business and operational needs into clear business, functional, data, integration, and non-functional requirements. This hands‑on role requires an experienced analyst who can thrive in a fast‑paced environment, bring clarity to ambiguity and deliver practical outcomes. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Gather, document and agree on business and system requirements for the Asset Management System (AMS), including functional, data, integration and non-functional requirements.
  • Review current processes and help design future ways of working, creating process maps, user stories, use cases and acceptance criteria.
  • Define how AMS connects and shares data with CDSS (Camera Deployment and Scheduling System) and other systems, including data flows, integrations, security, monitoring and error handling requirements.
  • Document data requirements, business rules, data definitions, data quality standards and migration needs for legacy and external data sources.
  • Identify and resolve requirement gaps, conflicts, dependencies and risks, ensuring requirements remain traceable throughout design, testing and implementation.
  • Facilitate workshops with business, technical and vendor stakeholders to gather requirements, solve issues and support delivery, testing and operational readiness.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong Technical Business Analyst experience delivering complex technology projects involving multiple systems, data flows and business processes.
  • Proven ability to gather, define and document business, functional, data and integration requirements, including data mapping and validation.
  • Experience working in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments, driving analysis activities and achieving stakeholder alignment across business, technical and vendor teams.

Highly Desirable attributes:
  • Experience in regulated or operational environments such as government, transport, compliance, enforcement or safety‑critical industries.
  • Background working with asset management or enterprise asset management platforms, ideally Hardcat or similar COTS solutions.
  • Experience with APIs, system integrations, data synchronisation and integration monitoring.
  • Strong data migration experience involving complex legacy system transitions.
  • Experience working with software vendors, implementation partners and managed service providers.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery practices, including backlog refinement, PI planning and release planning.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in Business Analysis, IT, Data or a related field.
