Job summary

Queensland Museum in Brisbane seeks a Technical Assistant for the Conservation team. The role supports the Conservation Laboratory with collection care, preventive conservation, admin tasks, exhibition install, and storage upgrades.

The successful candidate will have experience with museum collections, strong manual dexterity, careful handling of objects, and the ability to prioritise tasks in a busy lab environment. Based in Kurilpa (South Brisbane), some site-wide work may be required.

Qualifications

• Formal qualification in Museum Studies or a relevant discipline.
• Experience in collections care within the GLAM sector preferred.

• Support the Conservation Laboratory with collection care and preventive conservation.
• Perform administrative tasks to assist operations and record-keeping.

The Queensland Museum is seeking a Technical Assistant to join their Conservation team.

This position supports the Conservation Laboratory with collection care, preventive conservation, administrative tasks, exhibition install, collection re-housing and storage upgrades.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with museum or gallery collections, excellent manual dexterity and object handling skills, a keen eye for detail and an ability to prioritise tasks in a busy lab.

The position may be required to work across other Queensland Museum sites, but will be based in Kurilpa (South Brisbane).

Required Skills And Experience

Possession of a formal qualification in Museum Studies or relevant discipline. Experience in collections care within the GLAM sector preferred.
