Job summary

The Queensland Museum is seeking a Technical Assistant to join their Conservation team based in Kurilpa, South Brisbane. You will support the Conservation Laboratory with collection care, preventive conservation and related administrative tasks.

A formal qualification in Museum Studies or a relevant discipline is required; experience in GLAM collections is preferred. The role may involve work across Queensland Museum sites and is subject to criminal history checks.

Job description

The Queensland Museum is seeking a Technical Assistant to join their Conservation team.

This position supports the Conservation Laboratory with collection care, preventive conservation, administrative tasks, exhibition install, collection re-housing and storage upgrades.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with museum or gallery collections, excellent manual dexterity and object handling skills, a keen eye for detail and an ability to prioritise tasks in a busy lab.

The position may be required to work across other Queensland Museum sites, but will be based in Kurilpa (South Brisbane).

Required skills and experience

Possession of a formal qualification in Museum Studies or relevant discipline. Experience in collections care within the GLAM sector preferred.
