Job summary

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in technical, product development or technical services roles within concrete, construction materials, aggregates, cement or a related industry.
• Vast concrete expertise, with exposure to aggregates, cement or other building materials.
• Record of developing and commercialising technical products or solutions.

• Act as the senior technical product expert for Adbri’s portfolio.
• Partner with customers, contractors, engineers and specifiers to solve complex technical challenges and identify growth opportunities.
• Translate feedback, market intelligence and trends into clear product-development priorities.
• Lead development, testing, trials and commercialization of new products, including lower-carbon, high-performance solutions.
• Manage the innovation pipeline with governance, prioritisation and knowledge management.
• Provide technical expertise to commercial teams during major-project pursuits and customer discussions.
• Ensure products and trials meet Australian Standards and regulatory requirements.

The role:

Adbri is seeking a commercially minded technical leader to shape the future of its construction materials portfolio across concrete, cement, aggregates, masonry and lime. Reporting to the Chief Sustainability and Innovation Officer, you will lead customer support and technical product development. You will translate market and customer needs into reliable, high-performing solutions that meet standards and deliver commercial value. Working with Sales, Operations, Quality, Procurement and Sustainability, you will lead products from opportunity through to development, trials, scale-up and commercialization.

Key responsibilities:

• Act as the senior technical product expert for Adbri’s portfolio.
• Partner with customers, contractors, engineers and specifiers to solve complex technical challenges and identify growth opportunities.
• Translate customer feedback, market intelligence and emerging trends into clear product-development and technical-capability priorities.
• Lead the development, testing, trials, and commercialisation of new and improved products -particularly lower-carbon, high-performance solutions.
• Manage the innovation pipeline, including governance, prioritisation and knowledge management.
• Provide technical expertise to commercial teams during major-project pursuits, customer presentations and specification discussions.
• Manage the product development pipeline, including governance, prioritisation and knowledge management.
• Ensure products and trials meet Australian Standards, regulatory requirements and customer specifications.
• Support the development of technical standards, product practices and capability across the broader business as it grows.
• Represent Adbri at industry forums, technical committees with customers.
• Lead internal technical discussions and influence cross-functional outcomes.

About you:

You are a credible and engaging technical leader with deep experience in construction materials. You can build trusted relationships, communicate complex technical matters clearly and turn them into practical commercial and operational outcomes.

You will bring:

• Extensive experience in technical, product development or technical services roles within concrete, construction materials, aggregates, cement or a related industry.
• Vast concrete expertise, ideally with exposure to aggregates, cement, masonry or other building materials.
• A proven record of developing and commercialising technical products or solutions.
• Experience supporting customers, consultants, contractors and commercial teams.
• Sound knowledge of manufacturing, quality, product trials and bringing products to market.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards, specifications, quality systems and industry accreditation requirements.
• The ability to lead through influence across diverse stakeholders and teams.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with confidence engaging customers and industry stakeholders.
• An analytical, future-focused mindset and interest in using data, AI and digital tools to improve innovation and decision-making.
• A commitment to health, safety, sustainability and continuous improvement.
• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or a related discipline is preferred.
