Job summary

UnitingCare Children, Young People and Families in Brisbane is seeking a Technical Accountant to join our Finance team on a full-time, hybrid basis. You will analyse complex transactions, prepare technical accounting analyses, and support statutory reporting while strengthening reporting controls across the group.

Qualifications

• Five years’ experience in external audit, statutory financial reporting, technical accounting or financial accounting.
• CA or CPA qualification and tertiary accounting/business degree.
• Experience in not-for-profit, health or disability services is highly regarded.
• Ability to communicate complex accounting matters to finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of Group and entity general‑purpose financial statements with workpapers and disclosures.
• Prepare technical accounting analyses and position papers for routine and complex transactions.
• Partner with Finance teams and external auditors to resolve queries and improve reporting quality.
• Review key balance sheet items and investigate aged or unusual items for accuracy.
• Provide technical accounting support for strategic initiatives and system implementations.
