Qualifications

7+ years in insurance with at least 3 years in a management capacity
Strong technical expertise in General Liability, Historic Abuse, and/or Professional Indemnity claims
Ability to build and develop client and service-provider relationships
Ability to comply with relevant state legislation
Insurance policy interpretation skills

Responsibilities

Overview

Your Role

Working with the Leadership and Management team this role will see you provide day-to-day leadership and technical mentoring to your team ensuring the delivery of a cost effective, professional and customer focused claims service, while developing staff and implementing quality initiatives. This role has a significant focus on leadership, customer service and continuous improvement. This position will be offered on a permanent full-time basis with WFH flexibility.

How you'll make an impact

Ensure the claims team delivers exceptional Customer Service in a manner that upholds the SIRA Customer Service Principles
Manage the day to day operations of the Specialty Claims team – a hybrid portfolio of claims consisting of Medical Negligence, Historic Abuse and other claims
Ensure the delivery of cost effective, professional and customer-focused claims service
Lead quality assurance activities, including audit results, data integrity, process refinements
Lead Tier 1 activities and drive continuous improvement initiatives and prevent any recurring or systemic incidents
Manage team performance in line with team targets and service level agreements
Ensure appropriate team capability with effective recruitment and staff development planning
Provide day-to-day management and technical expertise to the team
Manage approvals outside of team delegations in relation to payments, letters, declinatures, mediations, etc

About you

At least 7 years insurance experience with 3 years management experience over your insurance career
Strong technical expertise in General Liability, Historic Abuse and/or Professional Indemnity claims handling
Ability to build and develop business relationship with clients and Service Providers
Ability to comply with relevant state legislation
Insurance policy interpretation skills
Stakeholder management
Strong level of interpersonal skills

Commitment to quality and accuracy
ANZIIF Executive Certificate in General Insurance Claims or AQF Diploma of General insurance or industry equivalent (desirable)
