Job summary

Inner West Council (IWC) is seeking a Team Leader Development Assessment to lead, supervise and coordinate a unit within the Development Assessment team. You will ensure targets and commitments are met, motivate staff and build cross‑Council partnerships to solve problems and drive high performance.

The role requires tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, extensive NSW development assessment experience, and strong knowledge of relevant planning acts.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in development assessment in local government NSW and related frameworks.
  • Outstanding knowledge of Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and Local Government Act.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and develop staff and foster partnerships across Council.

As the Team Leader Development Assessment, you will lead, supervise and co-ordinate the activities of a team within the Development Assessment Unitto ensure the team consistently works to meet its targets and commitments against their individual orteam work or performance plans and Council’s Operational and Strategic Plans. You will motivate andinspire the team, coach and develop staff, facilitate partnerships across Council and help solve problemsand resolve issues, and model achievement of goals and commitments.

$129,387.96 - $155,168.00 + 12% Superannuation + Access to Motor Vehicle Leaseback Scheme OR Car Allowance

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in development assessment in local government particularly in NSW andthe social, political, legal and regulatory frameworks in which it operates.
  • Outstanding knowledge of Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Local Government Actand related planning legislation and concepts as they relate to development assessment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team to achieve outcomes that address currentchallenges for the IWC and its commitments to the community.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and ability to deliver and embed a culture of excellent customerservice within a team.
