Job summary

NASCA seeks a Team Leader to guide Program Leads in delivering NASCA Academies across a school site. You will oversee program planning, staff management, and coordination to boost school attendance, performance, and life skills while strengthening cultural pride for NASCA students.

The role involves working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, managing budgets, and representing NASCA at community events. A strong background in youth services is preferred.

Qualifications

• Qualifications or experience in teaching, social sciences, youth and community services, Indigenous studies, coaching, or health.
• Valid drivers license and Working with Children and AFP clearances.
• Understanding of issues facing young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
• Experience in people management and team leading.

• Mentor and coach Program Leads in their role.
• Organise and coordinate across program resources, events, and activities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and NASCA Management.
• Support reporting requirements for NASCA school site.

Who We Are

• NASCA is a 100% Indigenous governed and led organisation with 95% of program staff identifying as Indigenous.
• Established in 1995 we have supported over 19,000 young people.
• In 2025, we supported over 2000 young people.
• We work across New South Wales with 21 Young Women’s Academies, one Young Men’s Academy, five Co-Ed Academies and in nine remote communities across the Northern Territory.

About The Role

The Team Leader will manage and support Program Leads in delivering the NASCA Academies for their school site. This includes program and project planning, staff management and coordination, and undertaking Program Lead tasks.

The Team Leader will work with students enrolled in the NASCA Academies to improve school attendance and ultimately school performance, develop career pathways and work-ready skills, and strengthen cultural pride and identity through life skills, personal development and long-term resilience.

Role And Responsibilities

• Manages, mentors, and coaches Program Leads in their role.
• Organises and coordinates across program resources, events, and activities.
• Develops and maintains meaningful relationships with stakeholders, staff, and NASCA Management.
• Works with Program Leads to achieve reporting requirements as required for the NASCA school site.
• Manages a set budget within requirements for delivery of the program.
• Works closely with Aboriginal Support staff at the school site, (ie. AEO) to ensure a holistic support approach is in place for NASCA young people.
• Represents NASCA at AECG and Community event meetings as required.

Job Requirements

• Qualifications or experience in one of the following disciplines: teaching, social sciences, youth and community services, Indigenous studies, coaching, or health.
• Drivers Licence.
• Working with Children and AFP clearances.
• Understanding of issues facing young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
• Experience in people management and team leading.
