Job summary

Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council is seeking a skilled front-line leader to oversee site operations and drive team performance in delivering excellent customer service, safe and efficient operations, and a cleaner, greener environment.

The role includes planning daily waste transfer and collection activities, guiding staff, and ensuring accurate financial transactions and fee applications. A passion for sustainability is essential.

Qualifications

• Possesses relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in a similar front‑line leadership position.
• Can effectively communicate in both oral and written form, and lead, motivate and manage a team to achieve goals on time.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prioritise daily operations of local waste transfer stations, waste collection and illegal dumping responses.
• Lead the team to deliver a reliable waste management service and strong customer service.
• Oversee daily financial transactions for waste services and ensure consistent application of fees and charges.
• Lead and monitor Health, Safety, Environment and Quality outcomes for the team.

Job description

The Package:

$105,580.80 - $116,672.40 gross per annum inclusive of penalty rates + 12% super. (Evaluated as Grade 12 of the QPRC Salary System 2026) and Award increases of 4% in 2027-28 and 4% in 2028-2029. 4-day work week – 64.5 hours per fortnight. Work pattern consists of Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday shifts.

Council is seeking a skilled front‑line leader to oversee site operations and lead the performance of the team in delivering excellent customer service, safe and efficient operations, and play a key role in creating a cleaner and greener environment.

In this role you will:

• Plan and prioritise the daily operations of local waste transfer stations, waste collection and illegal dumping responses.
• Lead the team in delivering exceptional customer service and a reliable waste management service.
• Oversee daily financial transactions for waste services in the area, ensuring consistency in the application of fees and charges.
• Leading and monitoring the team to deliver Health, Safety, Environment and Quality outcomes.

We are looking for someone who:

• Possesses relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in a similar front‑line leadership position.
• Can effectively communicate in both oral and written form, along with the ability to effectively lead, motivate and manage a team to successful complete goals within an agreed timeline.
• Has a passion for sustainable waste management and for the environment.
