Ivanhoe Grammar School in Melbourne is seeking an experienced English Teacher for a full-time 1.0 FTE, 12-month fixed-term parental leave position commencing January 2027. The Teacher of English will be based at the Ridgeway Campus and work with colleagues to deliver high-impact teaching and student care.

You will bring a relevant teaching qualification, optionally postgraduate studies in Education, and demonstrated experience teaching English to Years 7–12, with VCE experience advantageous.

What you will do

TheTeacher of Englishis a key member of our academic community. Reporting to theCurriculum Leaderand working closely with theHead of Pedagogy, you will work collaboratively with colleagues across year levels and subject areas to ensure consistency of high-impact teaching and student care.

You have the necessary experience,knowledgeand skills to:

• Teach effectively in a school context, holding a relevant qualification, ideally complemented by postgraduate studies in Education, Curriculum or Pedagogy
• Demonstrated experience in teaching English to students in Years 7 -12, withVCE experience advantageous
• Prepare students for high-stakes assessments, including VCE examinations, through explicit, disciplined and data-informed teaching practices
• Apply well-developed interpersonal and communication skills toengage confidently with students, staff,parentsand community partners
• Uphold a strong commitment to child safety and inclusive practice, supported by a valid VIT registration
