Job summary

Ivanhoe Grammar School is seeking an experienced English Teacher for a full-time, 12-month fixed-term parental leave position starting January 2027 at the Ridgeway Campus. The role centers on holistic education, character development and high-impact teaching across Years 7–12, including VCE Unit 1/2 English.

Qualifications

• Teach in a school context with a relevant qualification, postgraduate studies in Education are preferred.
• Experience teaching English to Years 7-12, with VCE experience advantageous.
• Prepare students for high-stakes assessments, including VCE examinations, using data-informed teaching practices.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with students, staff, parents and community partners.
• Uphold child safety and inclusive practice with a valid VIT registration.
• Bring a solutions-focused mindset and high professional standards.
• Model and foster a culture of respect, reflection and responsibility.
• Embrace continuous learning and development of others.

Responsibilities

• Deliver purposeful, research-informed learning using the school's instructional model.
• Teach English to Years 7-11 including VCE Unit 1/2 English.
• Embed clear learning intentions, formative assessment and student goal setting.
• Create calm, inclusive classrooms that support curiosity and high expectations.
• Monitor and support student learning and wellbeing using data and feedback.
• Contribute to House life, co-curricular programs and campus initiatives.
• Engage in reflective practice and professional growth through coaching and planning.
