Total Remuneration Package: Remuneration package valued at up to $156,253.00. Base salary ranges from $90,177.00 to $137,861.00, plus leave loading and employer's contribution to superannuation. Base salary rates above the minimum are available depending on experience.

Position Information

Warrawong High School (Years 7–12) has 610 students in 2026, with 45% from language backgrounds other than English and 11% identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The school emphasises explicit teaching, wellbeing, diversity, and sustainability, featuring a permaculture garden and the Illawarra Academy of STEM Excellence with industry partners like Bluescope.

Warrawong High School is in the final stage of constructing the new library, which is scheduled to be ready for Term 1, 2027. The Teacher Librarian will play a key role in leading and setting up the new library. The school is also setting up a Senior Study Centre within the Library, which will be managed by the Teacher Librarian.

Specific Selection Criteria

• Approval to teach Library Secondary or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Library qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education
• Demonstrated experience managing library operations and systems, including Oliver, while supporting students and leading staff in information literacy, digital research skills, and the ethical use of information.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with teaching staff on curriculum planning, implementation, assessment and the delivery of programs aligned with the teacher-librarian role.
• Proven capacity to support students with diverse learning needs and to organise and manage tailored resources and study strategies within an inclusive library environment.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Special Notes

If applicable, engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months.
