Position Information

McCallums Hill Public School is located in South Western Sydney and currently has an enrolment of approximately 330 students, which includes 7 support classes. The school caters for a diverse student population with 87% of students from a language background other than English. The school is committed to respecting, promoting and valuing the strength, diversity and richness of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Our students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds. The school culture is that of connectedness, inclusion and belonging with students, staff, parents and the wider community working together to promote school excellence. Our school works collaboratively within a Community of Schools network. Our school is supported by a strong and vibrant multi-cultural community, and our Greek and Arabic Community Language programs support students in maintaining and developing further communicative competence in their community language. Opportunities for students are available in many areas including sport, science, technology, and creative and performing arts which enable our students to excel through a range of different experiences.

Selection Criteria
  • Approval to teach: LIP Library (Primary) or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a school library using the Oliver Library Management system, including budget, technology and resource management.
  • Demonstrated creative, innovative, and flexible approach to managing a stimulating library learning environment to engage all students, enhance their learning experiences and promote a love of literature.
  • Evidence of highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to work as part of a collaborative team, enhance practice and build positive and authentic relationships with students, staff, parents/carers and the wider community.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
