Mount Barker Community College is seeking a Design and Technology teacher to lead our Engineering program in the Trade Training Centre. The role focuses on delivering high-quality learning experiences across Technologies, Engineering and Metalwork, with coordination for the Certificate II in Engineering.

The position is permanent part-time (0.7 FTE) commencing Term 1, 2027, at Mount Barker in Western Australia.

Mount Barker Community College is seeking an innovative and highly motivated Design and Technology teacher to lead our Engineering program in the Trade Training Centre alongside our technology courses in the college.

The Role

The Technologies Teacher will ideally provide high-quality teaching across the College’s Technologies, Engineering and Metalwork programs, with specific responsibility for the coordination and delivery of theCertificate II in Engineering. The role will provide students with practical, industry-relevant learning experiences that support pathways into further training, apprenticeships and employment. The successful applicant will demonstrate sound knowledge of theWestern Australian Curriculumand the ability to plan and deliver engaging learning programs that meet the diverse needs of students.

The teacher will oversee the effective operation and use of theTrade Training Centre, Engineering and Metalwork facilities, including equipment, resources, workshop practices and safety requirements. The role requires an ability to buildpositive, respectful and productive relationships with students, staff, industry and training providers, and to create a learning environment where students feel supported, engaged and encouraged to achieve their potential.

Mobility appointments for permanent, metropolitan and south westteachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South WestEducation Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
