Job summary

Piara Waters Senior High School in Perth’s southern suburbs invites applications for a permanent full-time Chemistry teacher for Years 11 and 12. You will inspire students toward tertiary study in science, medicine, engineering and technology, delivering high-quality teaching and differentiated learning.

You should be collaborative, reflective and committed to evidence-based practice, with a capacity to teach Chemistry and, if possible, Physics, across a foundation school’s senior phase.

Qualifications

  • Eligible teacher qualification and registration required.
  • Ability to teach secondary Chemistry with safe laboratory practice.
  • Experience or aptitude for differentiated instruction and assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Chemistry to Years 11 and 12 with a differentiated curriculum.
  • Deliver high-quality chemistry and, if possible, physics instruction.
  • Create safe, engaging laboratory learning environments and assess student progress.

Job description

This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2027

Piara Waters Senior High School (SHS) is situated in the beautifully landscaped suburb of Piara Waters, approximately 25 kilometers south of Perth. The school is surrounded by luscious greenery and forms part of the vibrant, multicultural community of Piara Waters. The school commenced with Year 7 students in 2023, and presently has Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 cohorts. Each year the school adds to its growing cohort, until it reaches Year 12 in 2028.

The Role

As we enter the senior phase of schooling, Piara Waters SHS is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and knowledgeable teacher of Chemistry to join our foundation school. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator or a passionate early career teacher to inspire and challenge students in Years 11 and 12 as they prepare for tertiary study and future careers in science, medicine, engineering, and technology.

As a member of our team, you will ideally be a conscientious, flexible and innovative teacher who is committed to the development of the whole student. You should be committed to the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning, assessment, and reporting practices as you prepare students for external examinations and tertiary pathways. You will ideally contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and to the broader life of a foundation school.

You will ideally be actively involved both within the school and wider community and foster positive relationships with students, families and colleagues. You would be highly reflective of your teaching practices and committed to evidence-based decision making and differentiation.

Applicants should be motivated, possessing the ability to teach secondary Chemistry and create safe and effective laboratory learning environments. As a Chemistry teacher you would deliver a differentiated curriculum which meets the needs of all students and have an expectation that all students can reach their potential. You should be a teacher who aspires for academic excellence and is committed to high-quality teaching and learning. Having the ability to teach secondary Physics, will be advantageous.
