Job summary

Berry Street is seeking a Targeted Care Packages Support Worker to assist children and young people in building independence, connections and safety. The role is hybrid and involves travel across the Central Highlands and Grampians regions.

The position is based in Mount Helen on Wadawurrong Country, with casual hours and a pay rate of $45–$50 per hour depending on qualifications. Salary packaging and other benefits apply.

The Opportunity

Help children and young people build independence, strengthen connections and feel safe and supported.

Our Targeted Care Packages (TCP) program supports children and young people who are in, or at risk of entering, residential care to move into care arrangements that better meet their needs. Working alongside carers and care teams, you will provide practical, individualised support that promotes stability, belonging and wellbeing.

What You’ll Do

• Support daily routines, including preparing for school, attending appointments and participating in community activities.
• Provide transport to help young people stay connected with education, services and support networks.
• Build independent living skills through mentoring, practical guidance and travel training.
• Work with carers and care teams to provide consistent support, maintaining accurate records of progress and activities.

Your hours and responsibilities will reflect each young person’s needs and individual care package.

About You

You are compassionate, adaptable and calm under pressure, with experience supporting young people with complex needs and behaviours. You build trusting relationships and bring an understanding of trauma, disability and the challenges facing young people involved with Child Protection.

You will have:

• Diploma in Community Services, Social Work or a related discipline
• Solid communications skills to effectively engage with young people, families and professionals
• Have a culturally responsive approach
• Availability to work flexible hours
• Valid current driver’s licence due
