Job summary

Chaplins is a neighbourhood wine and tapas bar in Melbourne seeking a skilled and professional cook to join the team immediately. You will work under an exceptional creative chef and contribute to building the tapas wine bar into the go-to place on Lygon.

We are looking for someone passionate about food, eager to learn, and able to thrive in a busy small kitchen. Casual shifts with opportunities to grow, training, and supportive owners are offered.

Qualifications

• Must be passionate about food and eager to learn.
• Enjoys a busy service in a small kitchen.
• Able to work collaboratively with front-of-house staff.
• Flexible with roster and duties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items to a consistently high standard.
• Manage daily food preparation, cleaning, organisation, and hygiene per food safety standards.
• Ensure all food is stored, labelled and rotated correctly (FIFO).
• Help monitor stock levels and communicate shortages to management.
• Ensure all dishes are prepared and served in a timely manner during service.
• Follow food safety, allergen management and dietary requirement procedures.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and report faults or safety concerns.
• Work with front-of-house staff and management for smooth service.
• Complete opening, closing and cleaning duties as required.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
• Assist with kitchen operations and other duties as reasonably required.
