Job summary

Geosyntec Mining seeks a Tailings / Geotechnical Engineer for our Perth Tailings Group, to support tailings storage facilities and geotechnical projects for Tier 1 energy and resource clients. Based at our Perth office, you will contribute to mine waste management, dam safety, and site investigations.

Ideal candidates hold a civil or environmental engineering degree, CPENG eligibility, and 1–5+ years of consulting experience in geotechnical practice, with strong analytical and reporting skills

Qualifications

• 1-5+ years of consulting experience operating within a geotechnical practice group.
• Experience with geotechnical logging software Tablogs, Holebase, etc.
• Competent in GIS or CAD packages.
• Working knowledge of geotechnical investigation standards and practices.
• Strong understanding of Health and Safety planning, processes and procedures.
• Past experience with geotechnical investigations at mine sites.
• Experience with geotechnical interpretation (CPiET) and analysis (Slope/W).
• Familiarity with dam safety guidelines including ANCOLD, GISTM, CDA and WA-DMR.
• Civil or tailings engineering general.
• Experience in GIS, CAD or Tailings Modelling software (QGIS, 12d, AutoCAD, Civil3D, or Muk3D).

Responsibilities

• Civil/Geotechnical/Tailings dam design.
• Geotechnical analyses using various software packages.
• Oversee and co-ordinate geotechnical field investigation programs
• Oversee and co-ordinate geotechnical laboratory testing programs
• Work closely with Engineers-of-Record (EoR) on long-term operational projects
• Write technical reports, proposals, and papers
• Develop geotechnical assessments and analysis capabilities
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients
