Job summary

Geosyntec Mining seeks a Senior Tailings / Geotechnical Engineer to lead tailings and mine waste projects across multiple Australian offices. You will contribute to dam design, site investigations and environmental data interpretation, while mentoring teams and ensuring regulatory compliance and project delivery.

You will apply advanced geotechnical methods, coordinate instrumentation and model tailings behaviour, with travel to client sites as needed. A strong consulting background is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering (required).
• Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering (preferred).
• Professional registration (preferred but not essential).
• Directly relevant experience in a consulting environment (required).
• 10+ years of consulting experience in geotechnical practice.
• Knowledge of geotechnical engineering software (required).
• Knowledge of numerical modeling tools (preferred).
• Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, multi-project handling, deadlines, travel to client facilities (required).
• Field work and overnight travel may be required.
• Valid Australian driver’s license for business travel (required).

Responsibilities

• Civil/Geotechnical/Tailings dam design.
• Geotechnical analyses using software packages.
• Tailings deposition modelling (Muk3D) understanding.
• Geotechnical and environmental site characterisation.
• Instrumentation monitoring systems development/management.
• Project/task management and proposal support.
• Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, specifications.
