Job summary

CQUniversity is seeking an experienced electrical trades professional to pass on their skills as an Electrical TAFE Teacher, mentoring the next generation of electricians and guiding students in both workshop and classroom settings.

You will teach Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, support students to select, install, test, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems in buildings and premises, with a focus on hands-on learning and safety.

Qualifications

• A relevant electrical trade qualification, such as a Certificate III in Electrotechnology or similar.
• A Queensland Electrical Licence, or the ability to obtain.
• Current hands-on industry experience in electrical installation, maintenance, fault finding, testing, commissioning or industrial environments.
• An interest in mentoring apprentices, sharing your knowledge, and guiding learners in both workshop and classroom settings.
• Previous teaching experience is not required, however you must be willing to work in a structured teaching environment that includes assessment, documentation and student support.

Responsibilities

• Your week comprises 36.25 hours/week (full-time) covering teaching, preparation, marking and student support.
• Teaching time is typically 22 hours/week, with up to 25 hours by agreement – no more than 9 teaching hours in a day.
• Prep and marking are included in your paid hours – not done in your own time.
• Flexible start and finish times, planned around teaching needs, with flexibility supported where possible to accommodate personal, family and carer responsibilities.
