Job summary

MSF Sugar PTY LTD in Far North Queensland invites applications for its 2027 Apprenticeship Program at the Tableland Mill, located about 25km west of Mareeba on the Atherton Tablelands.

This program provides on‑the‑job training toward a nationally recognised trade qualification in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting) and Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Boilermaker). Applicants should have Year 12 or relevant pre‑vocational pathways and a strong mechanical aptitude with a safety mindset.

Qualifications

• Completed Year 12 with Mathematics, English, and a Science/Engineering subject.
• Completed a Certificate II in Engineering Pathways or Certificate II in Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining, repairing, and overhauling heavy industrial machinery and equipment.
• Fabricating, welding, fitting, and assembling plant and structural components.
• Diagnosing mechanical faults and assisting with equipment breakdowns.
• Using engineering drawings, precision measuring equipment, and workshop tools.
• Working on pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, turbines, mills, piping, pressure vessels, and other factory equipment.
• Developing practical trade skills under the guidance of experienced Fitters and Boilermakers.
• Working safely in accordance with industry standards and safe work practices.
