Job summary

A technology consulting firm is seeking a seasoned Network Monitoring Specialist in Melbourne, Australia, to manage enterprise-grade Network Management Systems and enhance service performance. Ideal candidates will have strong infrastructure knowledge, a background in network monitoring protocols, and familiarity with relevant tools and scripting languages. This is a fixed-term role with a competitive package and the potential for permanent placement.

Qualifications

• Broad understanding of Linux and Windows Server administration.
• Experience with Fault Management Systems and Network Performance Monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with REST and JSON-RPC APIs.
• Experience with Fault Management Systems (FMS), EMS, and Network Performance Monitoring tools.
• Familiar with scripting (Python, Bash, Ansible) and REST/JSON-RPC APIs.
• Preferred certifications: Splunk, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, VMware VCP, RedHat RHCSA, Windows MCSA.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain enterprise-grade NMS and ITSM platforms.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot network monitoring solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues.

• Contribute to disaster recovery planning, backup systems, and database configurations.
• Develop implementation documentation and support knowledge transfer across teams.

Overview

Our client is seeking a seasoned Network Monitoring Specialist to join a high-performing team responsible for the health, performance, and reliability of enterprise-grade infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have broad experience across infrastructure (Networks, Linux and Windows Server) and be comfortable in implementing and configuring Networking Monitoring applications.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain enterprise-grade Network Management Systems (NMS) and IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot solutions such as ServiceNow, Splunk, Riverbed, LogicMonitor, Netbox, Infoblox
• Integrate monitoring tools to support service ordering, fulfillment, and assurance across a nationwide network
• Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues and enhance system performance
• Contribute to disaster recovery planning, backup systems, and database configurations
• Develop implementation documentation and support knowledge transfer across teams
• Monitor application performance and ensure seamless integration across platforms

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or IT Security
• Broad understanding of Infrastructure - Linux (Red Hat), Windows Server administration, and some networking
• Strong understanding of network monitoring protocols (ICMP, SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog, gRPC)
• Experience with Fault Management Systems (FMS), Element Management Systems (EMS), and Network Performance Monitoring tools
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Ansible) and APIs (REST, JSON-RPC)
• Preferred certifications: Splunk, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, VMware VCP, RedHat RHCSA, Windows MCSA
