Overview

As the Systems Administrator Lead, the candidate will oversee the organization's server environment, lead a team of IT professionals, and ensure that all enterprise systems and applications operate efficiently and securely. The Systems Administrator Lead will collaborate with other departments to understand their technology needs and provide strategic solutions to support their objectives. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex IT projects. Under general supervision, this position serves in a lead role for performing complex technical work in the support of servers, applications, and databases. This position will report to the Sr. Director of Technical Services.

Responsibilities
  • Provide complex technical support in systems administration including installation, configuration and maintenance of enterprise operating systems, applications, databases, data storage, and servers
  • Research, troubleshoot, and resolve problems related to identity management, email, mobile devices, internet accessibility, document management, systems availability, performance, or related issues
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Enterprise Systems department
  • Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, providing guidance and support
  • Develop and implement IT strategies and initiatives aligned with the university's goals
  • Oversee IT infrastructure design, implementation, and maintenance, including enterprise servers, applications, and databases
  • Ensure the security and integrity of the organization's data and systems through regular monitoring and updates
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Lead IT projects from inception to completion, including planning, execution, and post-implementation support
  • Coordinate with vendors and external partners to ensure timely delivery of products and services
  • Develop and track project costs and timelines
  • Assess the organization's technology needs and develop long-term strategies to address them
  • Collaborate with senior management to align IT initiatives with business objectives
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with IT operations
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role
  • Proven experience managing IT processes and teams
  • Extensive knowledge of IT infrastructure, including enterprise services, applications, and databases
  • Experience with cybersecurity practices and data protection regulations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team
  • Strong project management skills, including experience with project management tools and methodologies exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information and impose certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.

Florida Tech’s 2024 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech, and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.

The numbers provided include crime statistics reported to local law enforcement agencies, campus security and other Campus Security Authorities.

The report also includes institutional policy statements regarding campus safety and security measures, descriptions of prevention and awareness programs, related university procedures and important guidance, and other essential safety information.

Official Transcripts
