Job summary

Thales Australia is hiring a System Processes Methods & Tools Support Engineer to drive the digital transformation of Thales’ Engineering Environment. You will migrate the Orchestra Workbench to Polarion (cloud-based) while maintaining data integrity and provide ongoing support for legacy systems.

You will automate SE & IVVQ workflows, administer tools like Polarion, DOORS, Capella, and Pure::Variants, and ensure compliance through Jira and GitLab.

Qualifications

  • Formal qualification in Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience configuring Polarion for SE & IVVQ workflows and data models.
  • Proficiency with Linux (RedHat), Windows, Python and Java.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development, virtualization, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Ability to drive progress, anticipate risks and work across stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the migration of the Thales Orchestra Workbench to Polarion (cloud-hosted) with data integrity.
  • Provide technical support and maintenance for the on-premises Orchestra Workbench.
  • Automate and administer SE & IVVQ tools (Polarion, DOORS, Capella, Pure::Variants).
  • Manage incident tracking and compliance using Jira, GitLab and related tools.
  • Deliver training and knowledge sharing on new tools and workflows.
  • Collaborate with the E2 team in France to align SE and IVVQ support strategies.

Our Team

From take-off to landing, Thales offers the most complete range of solutions to provide dynamic Air Traffic Services to support today's growing domestic and international travel requirements. Utilising this knowledge and experience Thales Australia will deliver a harmonised Civil/Military Air Traffic Management System (OneSKY) in Australia to Airservices Australia and Defence.

Your role

This role exists to drive the digital transformation of Thales’ Engineering Environment by leading the migration of the Thales Orchestra Workbench to Polarion (cloud-based) and providing technical support for legacy systems, ensuring seamless System Engineering (SE) and IVVQ (Integration, Verification, Validation, and Qualification) processes. By enabling efficient toolchain administration, automation, and compliance, this role supports AMS’s vision of modernising engineering practices across all functions, products, and projects. As a System Processes Methods & Tools Support Engineer, you are responsible for ensuring:

  • Successful migration and configuration of the Thales Orchestra Workbench (DOORS, Vivaldi, CMG, etc.) to Polarion (cloud-hosted) while maintaining data integrity and traceability
  • Technical support and maintenance of the legacy Thales Orchestra Workbench (on-premises) for ongoing projects
  • Administration and automation of SE & IVVQ tools (Polarion, DOORS, Capella, Pure::Variants) to streamline development processes
  • Incident tracking and troubleshooting using Jira, GitLab, and other tools to ensure compliance with Thales’ norms and processes
  • Training and knowledge sharing for teams on new tools, workflows, and best practices
  • Collaboration with the E2 team in France to align on SE and IVVQ support strategies.

Your experience
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:

  • Formal qualification in Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
  • Polarion configuration (SE & IVVQ workflows, data models)
  • Proficiency in Jenkins, Artifactory, Jira, Git/GitLab, Power Bi
  • Experience with Linux (RedHat), Windows, Python, Java
  • Knowledge of Agile software development, virtualisation (VMware), and cybersecurity best practices
  • Drive progress proactively by identifying and removing blockers, anticipating risks, and navigating complexity to ensure timely delivery
  • Challenge assumptions and existing approaches constructively to improve efficiency and value delivery
  • Maintain momentum and agility by making practical decisions with available information and acting decisively
  • Build trust and collaboration through clear communication, active listening, and involving the right stakeholders at the right time
  • Champion digital transformation by promoting innovation, sustainability, and best practices in SE and IVVQ processes

A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.
