Job summary

Talent in Canberra is seeking an Associate Systems Analyst to help design and improve digital systems within a large Australian Government environment. You will work with business, development and testing teams to translate user needs into practical technology solutions that improve service delivery to Australians.

Your duties include analysing processes, documenting requirements, supporting design and implementation of new functionality, and ensuring quality through testing and documentation

Qualifications

  • Experience defining and managing detailed requirements from stakeholders.
  • Experience designing moderately complex software components/interfaces using standards and patterns.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with evidence-based recommendations.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse business processes, user needs and system requirements to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Translate business requirements and user stories into functional and technical specifications.
  • Support design and implementation of new system functionality and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Prepare and maintain solution documentation, specifications, design artefacts and technical reports.
  • Work with business stakeholders, developers and testers to resolve issues and support delivery.
  • Undertake testing activities including test planning, coverage reviews and test execution.
  • Assess options, risks and benefits, contributing to feasibility assessments and recommendations.

Job description

  • You can be based in Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne or Adelaide
  • Key skills: Requirements definition, systems analysis, software design, stakeholder engagement and translating business needs into technical solutions
  • $95-$110 per hour - APS 5 Level role.

An opportunity is available for an Associate Systems Analyst to contribute to the design and improvement of important digital systems within a large Australian Government environment. Working alongside business, development and testing teams, you will help turn user and operational requirements into practical, well-designed technology solutions that improve the delivery of services to Australians.

Your duties will include:
  • Analyse business processes, user needs and system requirements to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Translate business requirements and user stories into clear functional and technical specifications.
  • Support the design and implementation of new system functionality and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Prepare and maintain solution documentation, specifications, design artefacts and technical reports.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, developers and testers to resolve issues and support successful project delivery.
  • Undertake testing activities including test planning, test coverage reviews and formal or informal test execution.
  • Assess technical options, risks and benefits, contributing to feasibility assessments and recommendations.
Skills and Experience we are looking for:
  • Demonstrated experience in requirements definition and management, including eliciting, documenting, reviewing and prioritising detailed requirements.
  • Experience designing moderately complex software applications, system components or interfaces using established standards, patterns and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess information and provide evidence-based recommendations.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear language for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working collaboratively across business, development and testing teams, ideally within an Agile delivery environment.
  • Understanding of functional and non-functional requirements, solution design, testing and the broader systems development lifecycle.
  • Experience supporting feasibility assessments, user experience evaluation, business cases or cost-benefit analysis would be advantageous.
