Job summary

Leidos Australia is seeking a Virtual Data Centre Systems Administrator in Canberra to support mission-critical programs in the Geospatial domain. You will administer Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server environments, provide Level 2/3 support, monitor incidents and work with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability and security.

You should have experience with VMware vSphere, App-V, PowerShell or Python, MECM, and strong stakeholder communication in secure environments.

Qualifications

  • Experience administering Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server in secure environments.
  • Virtual server administration with VMware and application virtualization (App-V).
  • Scripting/automation with PowerShell and Python.
  • Experience creating MECM advertisements, collections and packages.
  • Troubleshooting complex issues while balancing priorities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement.

The Opportunity
Role

Join Leidos Australia as a Virtual Data Centre Systems Administrator and play a key role in supporting mission-critical programs within the Geospatial domain. Working on-site in Canberra, you will contribute to the performance, reliability and security of complex virtualised environments that underpin important national capability outcomes. In this role, you will:

  • Administer and maintain Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server environments, ensuring the availability and performance of critical systems, databases and applications.
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support, investigating and resolving complex infrastructure and system issues across virtualised environments.
  • Monitor, diagnose and remediate system incidents, working proactively to identify and address issues before they impact operational outcomes.
  • Collaborate with customers, network administrators and multidisciplinary technical teams to deliver reliable services and support mission success.
About You

You are an experienced systems administrator who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and working within highly secure, mission-focused environments. You bring a collaborative approach, a commitment to service excellence and the ability to work effectively across technical and customer stakeholder groups.

Essential
  • Experience administering Linux (RHEL) and/or Windows Server environments in enterprise or secure operational settings.
  • Capability in virtual server administration and associated technologies, including VMware vSphere and application virtualisation platforms such as App-V.
  • Experience scripting and automating tasks using PowerShell and/or Python.
  • Experience creating advertisements, collections and packages within a Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, investigate and resolve complex technical issues while balancing operational priorities.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across technical and customer teams.
Advantageous
  • Experience supporting virtual data centre environments within Defence, Government or other highly regulated sectors.
  • Knowledge of systems monitoring, performance optimisation and infrastructure automation practices.
  • Experience working within multi-user operational environments supporting critical applications and services.

This role requires the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen holding an NV2 Security Clearance, with the ability to successfully obtain and maintain a DISA/OSA.
