Job summary

YMCA Victoria is hiring a Swim Teacher for SPLASH in South Gippsland, Leongatha. This casual role involves delivering swimming lessons to school-aged children, combining stroke development with water safety and confidence building.

You will design age-appropriate plans and progressions, and help students advance through levels. The position offers an hourly rate starting at $34.96 plus super and Y benefits, with flexible rostering and opportunities for career development within the YMCA network

Qualifications

• CPR certification (HLTAID009) required.
• Accredited Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (AUSTSWIM or equivalent) essential.
• First Aid (HLTAID011) desirable.
• Qualifications in Infant/Preschool Aquatics and inclusive aquatics are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Structure and design lessons with activities that develop swimming and water safety skills.
• Recommend students for level progression as appropriate.
• Teach and model problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

About the Centre

SPLASH is the premier Indoor Pool and Stadium facility in South Gippsland.Owned by South Gippsland Shire Council and managed by the Y, it boasts a 25m, 8 lane pool, a Leisure Pool, Toddler Pool and a two-court basketball stadium.It is located in the heart of Leongatha's Sporting precinct, adjacent to the Leongatha Recreation Oval, Woorayl Golf Course, and Leongatha Tennis Club.

About the role

As a Swim Teacher at South Gippsland SPLASH, you will be developing and delivering lesson plans that promote swimming skill building in school aged children, combining stroke development with water safety and enhancing the overall confidence and ability of your students.

• Structure and design lessons with appropriate activities that challenge and develop your students swimming and water safety ability
• Recommend students for level progression as appropriate
• Teach and model effective problem solving skills and conflict resolution skills

This is a Casual role with an hourly rate starting at $34.96 + super & Y Benefits.

About you

You will be passionate about inspiring and developing water safety and swimming skills in children and young people. Experience in other teaching or coaching roles is a bonus but not necessary. Personal attributes such as patience, respect, and enthusiasm will take you far as a Swim Teacher!
