Job summary

Belgravia Leisure in Gympie is seeking a qualified Learn to Swim instructor to teach swimming and water safety to children as part of a growing program. This casual role requires morning, evening and Saturday shifts, with a focus on safety, engagement and excellent customer service.

You will need Current First Aid, CPR, WWC and a national police check, with AUSTSWIM certification preferred or training available.

Qualifications

• Qualified Learn to Swim teacher with Infant & Toddlers qualifications preferred; training offered for suitable candidates.
• Current First Aid (Level 2) & CPR certification is required.
• Working With Children Check and National Police Check are required.
• Current AUSTSWIM Certificate - Teaching of Swimming and Water Safety is required.
• Swim Teacher of Infant and Preschool Aquatics qualification or willingness to obtain is preferred.
• Swim Teacher of Aquatics Access and Inclusion qualification is desirable.
• Experience in a similar role is valued but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Teach effective swimming and water safety to grow the swim program.
• Deliver classes in mornings, evenings and Saturdays; be empathetic to class needs.

This is a great opportunity for qualified teachers who enjoy swimming, love working with children, who want to teach the skills of swimming and the value of water safety.

The Role

With our fast-growing Aquatic Program, we require qualified Learn to Swim with preference to having Infants & Toddlers qualifications. If you do not have these qualifications, we are willing to offer training for the suitable candidates. As a Swimming Teacher you will teach effective Swimming and Water Safety to help grow our swim program. This will be a casual role which require you to work mornings, evenings and Saturdays and you must be empathetic to the needs of the classes. You will have a passion for swimming and making children safer around the water. You should be energetic, dynamic, outgoing and fun, with a flair for working with children. You will need outstanding communication skills and a commitment to customer service excellence to ensure swim school members, patrons and parents are gaining maximum benefit and enjoyment from the services provided. Successful applicants will demonstrate the ability to communicate and interact effectively with students that have a diverse range of ages, abilities, cultures and needs.

Skills & Attributes

• Energetic, innovative and decisive teaching style
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• An understanding of OHS and public safety applications within your facility
• Ability to work mornings, evenings and weekends and must be empathetic to the needs of the classes
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as a strong and valuable part of the team
• Current First Aid (Level 2) & Current CPR Certificate
• Working With Children Check (or equivalent) & National Police Check
• Current AUSTSWIM Certificate - Teaching of Swimming and Water Safety
• Swim Teacher of Infant and Preschool Aquatics Qualification or willing to obtain
• Swim Teacher of Aquatics Access and Inclusion (Desirable)

Previous experience and success in a comparable role is not essential but highly regarded
